Unlocking Potential: Expert ADHD and Autism Testing for Adults
About me
I have extensive experience in the fields of attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD). After 35 years of in-person practice, I am excited to focus exclusively on virtual assessments of ADHD and ASD in adults, while being mindful of other coexisting conditions such as depression, anxiety, and trauma. I am licensed to administer virtual assessments in 42 states through PSYPACT.
Regarding ADHD, I have evaluated over 5,000 children, adolescents, and adults; I have written a book on the topic of ADHD in adults; I have parented three wonderful children with ADHD, and I have ADHD myself. In terms of autism, I have spent the past 12 years working with and learning from individuals with ASD; continuously refining my ability to accurately identify ASD symptoms and to differentiate these from other possible conditions.
I greatly enjoy the opportunity to work together with individuals with ADHD and/or ASD. As part of the detailed evaluation process, my reports offer recommendations to help clients move forward and embrace their unique identities, to address symptoms that serve to hinder their sense of well-being, and to help create more affirming and supportive environments.
Testing
Following a brief phone consultation to determine if testing is appropriate, two virtual appointments will be scheduled, and forms and rating scales will be sent for you to complete and return prior to the onset of the evaluation.
Diagnostic Assessment
The first appointment, a diagnostic assessment, will be 1½ to 2 hours in duration and will involve an intensive history taking to look at how ADHD and/or ASD symptoms impacted you throughout your childhood and adolescent years. We will then explore your adult life, with questions geared once again to how ADHD and/or ASD symptoms impact your day-to-day functioning. This process should be both illuminating and educational. Additional possible co-existing disorders will be explored as well.
Feedback Session
The second appointment will be scheduled to take place within one week of the first and will be an hour in duration. During this session, results of rating scales and interview measures will be shared as well as patterns of behaviors that do or do not support a diagnosis of ADHD and/or ASD. This information will be summarized in a detailed written report that will also include recommendations specifically tailored to your presenting issues.
Payment
The cost of the evaluation is $1,650. This flat fee is inclusive of the video/telehealth diagnostic assessment and feedback session, scoring of test results, review of additional documentation, and generation of the written report. I do not accept any direct insurance payments at this time. Payment is requested via credit card. I take a partial payment ($300) at the time of scheduling and the remainder following the diagnostic assessment.
You may be able to get partial reimbursement for your evaluation by submitting an in-depth receipt (called a "superbill") to your insurance company, which I will provide.
Optional Question and Answer Session
A subsequent session is available free of charge after you have begun treatment. During this session, I can answer additional questions that may have arisen over time about your diagnoses and your response to treatment. We can celebrate your successes and focus on areas where you continue to struggle. This session can take place after a few weeks or after several months, depending on your preference.
