Unlocking Potential: Expert ADHD Testing for Adults
About me
I have extensive experience in the field of ADHD, including having evaluated over 5,000 children, adolescents and adults; having written a book on the topic of ADHD in adults; parenting three children with ADHD; and having ADHD myself. I combine cutting-edge research with a healthy dose of humor and compassion in my approach.
At the onset of my career in the early 1990’s, I met many parents of ADHD children who shared their struggles of having ADHD themselves. At that time, it was assumed that most children outgrew these symptoms – an assumption that has been proven wrong. The appreciation shown by my adult clients for having an accurate diagnosis spurred me into researching patterns of experiences with this population and culminated in a book, Life at Full Throttle: ADHD in Adults. At this point in my career, I am choosing to focus exclusively on testing ADHD adults and look forward to being able to share my accumulated knowledge in the field to the betterment of ADHD adults in the state of Minnesota.
Testing
Following a brief phone consultation to determine if testing is appropriate, two virtual appointments will be scheduled, and forms and rating scales will be sent for you to complete and return prior to the onset of the evaluation.
Diagnostic Assessment
The first appointment, a diagnostic assessment, will be 1½ hours in duration and will involve an intensive history taking to look at how ADHD symptoms impacted you throughout your childhood and adolescent years. We will then explore your adult life, with questions focusing on organization, time management, emotional regulation, and significant relationships. The questions will be geared once again to how ADHD symptoms impact your day-to-day functioning. This process should be both illuminating and educational. Additional possible co-existing disorders will be explored as well.
Feedback Session
The second appointment will be scheduled to take place within one week of the first and will be an hour in duration. During this session, results of rating scales will be shared as well as patterns of behaviors that do or do not support a diagnosis of ADHD. This information will be summarized in a detailed written report that will also include recommendations specifically tailored to your presenting issues.
Payment
The cost of the evaluation is $1,650. This flat fee is inclusive of the video/telehealth diagnostic assessment and feedback session, scoring of test results, review of additional documentation, and generation of the written report. I do not accept any direct insurance payments at this time. Payment is requested via credit card. I take a partial payment ($350) at the time of scheduling and the remainder following the diagnostic assessment.
You may be able to get partial reimbursement for your evaluation by submitting an in-depth receipt (called a "superbill") to your insurance company, which I will provide.
